Did you know that you don’t have to always rely on premade fragrance oil blends for your creations?
Here are a couple of tips to get your creative juices flowing!
You can create your own signature fragrances by stocking up on staple single note or simple fragrances or essential oils such as honey, chocolate, lavender, mint, orange and vanilla, and use them many different ways. For example, rather than buying a Creamsicle type fragrance oil, why not try an Orange Essential Oil, then pair with Vanilla. You’ll get more mileage out of your fragrances, as you will be able to use them in more than one way. You could use that same Sweet Orange paired with a Chocolate Delight Fragrance Oil for a mouth-watering Body scrub or Soap. The art of fragrance blending doesn’t need to be complex and you can start simple, then work your way into more elaborate blends. A common ratio for beginning with blends is 30% top notes, 50% middle notes, and 20% base notes. It’s a good idea to research perfume terminology and learn the different categories of scent types as you begin your blending journey.
Here are some suggested blends using our new Leather Fragrance Oil to get you started:
Desert Cowboy: Leather Fragrance Oil is fantastic when paired with our Sweetgrass and Balsam & Citrus fragrance. A ratio of 1:2:3 is ideal for this blend (one part Leather, two parts Sweetgrass and three parts Balsam & Citrus).
Man About Town: Another great masculine blend is Lemon Zest Fragrance with Leather Fragrance at a ratio of 2:1. If you were to add a very small amount of Patchouli Essential Oil and some Satara Sandalwood Fragrance to this blend, you’d get a deeper, more complex result.
