Sample Vial Testing

How much is in each Sample Vial & how to test small batches?

So, you get this cute little sample of fragrance or flavor… now what? Testing & measuring can be confusing, but we’ve made it easy!

Each vial holds approx .08 oz or 2.26 gm or ½ tsp or 2.5 ml or 90 drops. (Sample vials are not weighed, so fill levels vary).

Usage of our flavors & fragrance oils =1-3% (fragrance oils not to be used in lip balm). For instance, if you want to test 2% fragrance in 1 oz of soap (cp, melt & pour or hp), lotion, scrub, shampoo, air freshener, or any other product, simply measure 1 oz of desired base and add 2% (.02 oz) fragrance. If you don’t have a scale, this can be converted to 22 drops or .56 g fragrance per oz of base. (Increase or decrease percentage based on your preference). We typically recommend measuring by weight with a scale, not by volume. Keep in mind that these percentages are not exact due to different densities and weights of each oil, but this is a very inexpensive way to test a small batch with a new fragrance or flavor oil.

Now, with minimal investment, you know if you like the scent!

1% usage… 1 oz base x .01 = .01 oz fragrance or flavor (11 drops or .28 g)
2% usage… 1 oz base x .02 = .02 oz fragrance or flavor (22 drops or .56 g)
3% usage… 1 oz base x .03 = .03 oz fragrance or flavor (33 drops or .85 g)
